Lazaro Hernandez Animator & Producer

Lazaro Hernandez is a Producer for Ethics Unwrapped at the McCombs School of Business. He has animated more than 80 videos for Ethics Unwrapped, creating unique animation styles for two popular program series: Ethics Defined and Scandals Illustrated. Lazaro joined the program as a student worker in 2014, and has contributed steadily since then, becoming a production assistant after graduating in 2015, and moving up to producer in 2018. Most recently, Lazaro produced the program’s short video on the #MeToo Movement and its ethical implications. Currently, he leads the program’s social media and outreach team.

Before joining Ethics Unwrapped full time, Lazaro worked as a news reporter for various print publications, and as a videographer and video editor for Univision 62 in Austin. Lazaro holds a B.S. in Radio-Television-Film and a Bachelor of Journalism from The University of Texas at Austin.

Buddy Hickerson Illustrator, Cartoonist & Character Designer

Buddy Hickerson illustrated the GVV Series and some of the Concept Unwrapped series, and is the artist behind the Case Study images in Ethics Unwrapped. Buddy is also the cartoonist of “The Quigmans,” an internationally syndicated newspaper cartoon, as well as a painter and magazine illustrator. He has worked as character designer for Klasky-Csupo, the Rugrats company, and is currently developing a graphic novel, Blue Palms. Buddy holds a B.A. in Fine Art from University of North Texas, and currently resides in Los Angeles.

Joel Hickerson Illustrator & Cartoonist

Austin illustrator and cartoonist Joel Hickerson got his start in visual learning as “Frenchy,” the how-to-draw artist on a PBS kids show in the 1990s. Joel illustrated much of the Concepts Unwrapped series for Ethics Unwrapped. He has since worked more and more on the white board while developing a better understanding of the power this type of visual communication has on audiences.
